FAQs
How do I know a documentary photography session is right for my family? If you break out in hives thinking about posed family shoots, this is for you. If the stress of getting everyone ready for photos makes you want to hide, I'm your person. I capture real portraits of your real family. Pictures that remind you how life felt at this time, not some filtered Instagram version.
Do I need to deep clean my house before you come? Don't worry about it. I also have messy floors, toys everywhere, and piles of laundry. These details tell your story at this moment in time. It won't always be like this. If cleaning makes you feel better, go ahead. But as a mom, I'm not fazed by mess. As a photographer, I can work around any background and still take great pictures.
What if my children won’t behave? There's no such thing as perfect children, parents, or families. Tantrums and meltdowns are normal parts of any day. I have 2 kids of my own and babysat 9 nephews and nieces for years. I can handle the chaos. Plus, sometimes the crazy moments make the best pictures!
Do you do posed family shots? Of course! At the end of your session, when everyone's comfortable with me and my camera, we can spend 15-20 minutes creating a relaxed family portrait. One that's full of your family's true personality.
Can we get the grandparents to join in the photoshoot? Yes! Having grandparents around makes for wonderful memories you'll treasure for years. Having grandkids around helps relax the grandparents when they're not used to being photographed naturally.
What if I don’t want my family pictures shared online? We can work that out. I'm ready to work with adopting families, foster families, or anyone who doesn't want their images online. Just let me know when we talk and I'll find a way to accommodate you.
Do you travel? I do. I cover Bloomington and surrounding cities. There is a travel fee for locations outside Bloomington. I don't go too far from home because of my own family. Just ask me about your location!
